Refined Power: Upgrading an Infiniti Q50 for Performance Excellence

Introduction:

The Infiniti Q50, renowned for its blend of luxury and performance, is one of the most thrilling and underrated premium performance cars on the market. At SZR Pro, we thought we’d add a few light mods and see what kinds of performance we could extract from it.

Larger Aluminum Lower Oil Pan:

To ensure optimal engine lubrication and temperature regulation, upgrading to a larger aluminum lower oil pan is a good idea. By increasing oil capacity and improving cooling efficiency, the Infiniti Q50 benefits from enhanced engine protection and reliability, particularly during spirited driving or track sessions. With the larger oil pan in place, we can push the Q50 to the limit with confidence, knowing that vital engine components are well-protected and lubricated.

Pure Turbos:

To get more power out of the engine, we installed Pure Stage 1 turbos. Renowned for their performance-oriented design and robust construction, Pure Turbos unleash a surge of extra power and torque, propelling the Infiniti Q50 to new heights of performance. With larger compressor and turbine wheels, these turbochargers maximize airflow and boost pressure, delivering blistering acceleration and exhilarating performance on demand.

Upgraded Walled Idler Pulley:

Many of the VR30DETT motors came with an unwalled idler pulley, which can allow the belt to slip off at high RPM. Newer motors have a revised walled pulley, which we installed to make sure we don’t run into any issues.

Flex Fuel:

By allowing the engine to run on a blend of gasoline and ethanol, Flex Fuel unlocks additional power and efficiency, and allows us to use more boost than regular 93 octane.

AMS Heat Exchanger, Auxiliary Tank, and Expansion Tank:

Enhancing cooling performance is crucial for sustained performance and reliability, especially in high-performance applications. With AMS heat exchanger, auxiliary tank, and expansion tank upgrades, the Infiniti Q50 benefits from improved heat dissipation and coolant capacity, maintaining optimal operating temperatures even under extreme conditions.

Mid Pipes, Lower Down Pipes, and Y Pipe:

Completing the performance package, mid pipes, lower down pipes, and a Y pipe upgrade optimize exhaust flow, unleashing the full potential of the Infiniti Q50's engine. By reducing restrictions and enhancing scavenging efficiency, these components maximize horsepower and torque, delivering a more aggressive exhaust note and improved throttle response.

Conclusion:

With a simple array of a few modifications, the Infiniti Q50 is vastly improved over the stock setup. With sharper throttle response, more power, and better cooling, the Q50 can now go seamlessly from the board room to the track. From larger aluminum lower oil pans and Pure Turbos to upgraded walled idler pulleys, Flex Fuel systems, AMS cooling upgrades, and enhanced exhaust components, each modification elevates the Q50's capabilities, delivering exhilarating performance and driving pleasure. Whether carving corners on the track or cruising the open road, the upgraded Infiniti Q50 stands ready to captivate enthusiasts with its blend of luxury, performance, and sheer excitement.
