Backstory:
Few cars evoke as much passion and excitement as the Honda S2000. Meet Melissa and her late uncle, Dudley Tunstall. Dudley's love for the S2000 was palpable from the moment he brought it home from the dealership, brand new the same year it was released. Over the years, he meticulously cared for this S2000, turning to Dane and Melissa for any needed repairs or upgrades.
After Dudley lost his battle to cancer, he left his S2000 to Dane and Melissa, and they were determined to honor Dudley's memory by continuing to care for the S2000. With less than 54,000 miles on the odometer, the car held immense sentimental value, despite showing signs of wear from years of outdoor storage.
With an arsenal of aftermarket parts and a meticulous attention to detail, Dane and Melissa embarked on a journey to bring the car back to its former glory. From replacing worn-out components to upgrading performance parts, every step was taken with Dudley's spirit in mind.
Modification Process:
With the S2000's restoration well underway, Dane and Melissa set their sights on enhancing its performance capabilities. Armed with a wealth of aftermarket upgrades, they meticulously planned each modification to ensure a perfect balance of power and reliability.
The heart of the transformation lay in the installation of a Science of Speed supercharger kit, featuring a Paxton stage 2 supercharger. This addition would significantly boost the S2000's horsepower and torque, delivering exhilarating performance on the road or track.
To support the increased power output, a comprehensive array of modifications was implemented. These included an Infinity ECU for precise engine management, Flex Fuel and fail-safe systems to ensure optimal fuel delivery and engine protection, and Injector Dynamics 1050cc injectors paired with an AEM 340 fuel pump for ample fuel supply.
Cooling performance was upgraded with a Koyo radiator, while a Greddy by KW coilover suspension setup and Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings improved handling and responsiveness. Stopping power received a significant boost with a StopTech big brake kit, ensuring the S2000 could harness its newfound power safely and effectively.
Additionally, the exhaust system was enhanced with a Skunk2 header and Revel Medallion catback exhaust for improved flow and an aggressive exhaust note. Wheel and tire upgrades, including Weds Sport TC005 wheels and Science of Speed axle spacers, improved traction and aesthetics.
In the end, the S2000 emerged not only as a testament to Dudley's legacy but also as a formidable performance machine capable of thrilling drives and track days alike. With each modification, Dane and Melissa and her husband pay homage to Dudley's passion for the S2000.
